Artist’s Statement
What I do
I am an artist who creates paintings outdoors, on location in nature, namely, ‘en plein air’.
My inspiration comes directly from nature’s beauty which many others pass by without noticing.
I especially like to study and observe the way sunlight affects everything I see and how I feel about it. The light changes the colours, creates shadows and highlights and shapes the landscape, sometimes in sudden and most unexpected ways.
Why I do it
The aim is always to capture an honest representation of the topography before me, combined with the essence of emotions I feel when out in the landscape. These visual and emotional signposts when taken together, help create visually exciting and interesting works of art, in an impressionist manner.
This artistic journey is thus an invitation to connect and engage with the subtle nuances on the canvas, while at the same time establishing a direct dialogue between the viewer and the artwork. My hope is that art lovers see the passion in my work, achieved by the many hours I spend on the seashore, in boatyards, in the mountains, but always out in the midst of nature. This passion sets my work apart from paintings created in a stuffy studio.
How does my work change things
When I succeed, customers tell me that my work brings joy and happiness to their lives.

I am a passionate and prolific ‘plein air artist’ working out doors from nature, in real life.
I combine my design and compositional skills to create exciting and unique paintings which speak to the viewer, both visually, and emotionally. My work sells well in the UK and the USA.
It appeals especially to those who value honesty and integrity in art, and those who are fed up with the abstract, the enigmatic and the obscure in the art world.
I have filled the roles of Secretary and Chairman in local Art Societies, and currently lead a group Thanet plein air Painters, on outings each summer.
I am a committee member of East Kent Art Society.
I am represented by Westgate Galleria in Westgate on Sea, and York Street Gallery in Ramsgate.
