Springtime in the Studio!

Spring flowers, Daffodils

It’s springtime in the studio, so here are some daffodils for you!

Daffodils, springtime in the studio, I painted them in oils on a cold wet day, and they really raised my spirits, especially when arranged in this antique copper measuring jug.
Here are some more spring flowers, this time tulips, daffs, hyacinths and an iris all in a glass vase.

Some more flowers below, see this oil painting size 20” x 8” of some red roses and carnations, in a tall glass vase, placed on a gingham cloth.

Before I show you more recent works, take a look at this collage of my 31 daily paintings made in January.

Now for some re-workings inspired by some plein air paintings and sketches made whilst on my painting trip to Venice.

First off is this canal side view near San Lorenzo, with the campanile of San Georgio dei Greci. Like many of the towers in Venice, this one has a noticeable lean.  Below, is a rather hackney’d view of San Marco, which was a pleasure to paint, with no tourists bothering me.

And here is a poster for a group exhibition at the Pie Factory, Margate, a super art venue in the Old Town. I am delighted that my work was chosen.

Until next time, I’ll leave you with a short video I made whilst out painting, enjoy!
